Documentary Competition - Please help!

Voting just started on a great a documentary competition that I’m in. My entry is a shot of The Bronze Medal before they take to the stage at a Bristol show late last year.

It would be hugely beneficial for me to pick up speed in this contest. Documentary being my specialist area. Unfathomable appreciation if you could check out my entry and the competition, then vote accordingly.

Thanks all.

* Inside a recording studio I noticed the musician practicing in the corner, seemingly in a world of his own, built by his craft.

At the time of the shot I was documenting a friends band in the studio. I’d spent numerous days with them shooting the action of live performances, but I wanted to take this time to capture the vast amount of work that takes place off stage but rarely seen.

I’m in the running on a portraiture competition run by the photographers Kendrick Brinson and David Walter Banks. There’s a whole load of resources and experience that I would love to use if I made it to the finals.

If you’ve got a moment, please check out the competition below. If you like my work you can vote on the right of my image on the link, via Facebook, Twitter or both!

* Ignore the cheesy description. Competitions love cheese.

Fotoblur issue 14 - Published

With my websites email down I’ve been completely out of the loop of..me, but randomly, I just found out I’m about to be published in this months issue of Fotoblur. The image is a shot of Chris Hillier of The Bronze Medal, whilst the band was recording last summer at Moles Studio in Bath. I think the brief for the magazine was ‘mood’, but don’t quote me..

You can grab a copy of the magazine later this month here.

Check out the subject of the photo - The Bronze Medal, who will be releasing a new e.p in the coming weeks, and touring the UK.

Whilst your reading my ramblings, I’m currently exhibiting an unusual new series ‘Through a Glass Darkly’ at Brick Lane Gallery, London (until 10th June) and Gloucester building in Brighton. It’s weird, go read the second post down.

Professional Photographer Magazine (January) - Professional Photographer of the Year Awards

This months magazine has given me a mention in the student category of the Professional Photographer of the Year Awards. The image is a shot of Chris Hillier recording with his band The Bronze Medal at Moles studio earlier this year.

“Our Professional Photographer of the Year Awards for 2011 celebrate the talent in the UK’s Photographic community, and the entries are growing nicely on the PP website with some incredibly creative and interesting images to marvel over - it’s well worth a look. As with last month, the judges and sponsors have had a good look through and chosen images that have inspired comment. Each individual has then written a personal account of why they have chosen the image. The competition ends soon, with the awards night on March 22nd 2012, so don’t waste time getting your entries in” - Professional Photographer Magazine
