Documentary Competition - Please help!

Voting just started on a great a documentary competition that I’m in. My entry is a shot of The Bronze Medal before they take to the stage at a Bristol show late last year.

It would be hugely beneficial for me to pick up speed in this contest. Documentary being my specialist area. Unfathomable appreciation if you could check out my entry and the competition, then vote accordingly.

Yet again I’ve entered another Talenthouse competition, this time to win a heap of bullion. With minimal funds, being a top finalist would not just help, but almost entirely bank roll some serious equipment and projects, far out of reach of any graduate.

Among the millions of blogs on Tumblr, only a small number are contributors of original content: “the world’s creators”

And if you’ve ever looked at Tumblr’s Explore Page you might notice that Photography is oddly absent.

There’s #design, #art, #architecture and even #artists on tumblr — but no mention of anything related to the art of taking pictures with a camera. Even #film is a trap — it’s for movies, not analog photography!

We don’t think this situation is acceptable. So let’s Fight it.

We’d like to ask all original photographers on Tumblr to start putting the #photographers on tumblr tag on every single photo you post.

Photographers deserve more recognition among the Creators on Tumblr. Hopefully, by using this tag we’ll help the entire community of Tumblr photographers get noticed — and maybe one day we will see that tag on the Tumblr Explore page too.

Chris Hillier of The Bronze Medal recording at Moles Studio, Bath.

* Inside a recording studio I noticed the musician practicing in the corner, seemingly in a world of his own, built by his craft.

At the time of the shot I was documenting a friends band in the studio. I’d spent numerous days with them shooting the action of live performances, but I wanted to take this time to capture the vast amount of work that takes place off stage but rarely seen.

I’m in the running on a portraiture competition run by the photographers Kendrick Brinson and David Walter Banks. There’s a whole load of resources and experience that I would love to use if I made it to the finals.
